Chetwoods Architects are one of the UK's leading architectural practices with offices in London, Leeds and Birmingham. They are well known for their leading-edge sustainable developments (such as The Zetter in Clerkenwell) but they are also equally renowned for their commercially practical retail developments across the UK and mainland Europe. Over the past few years, the practice has developed an international reputation for their remarkable approach to every project they embark on. Put simply, they design buildings for people to enjoy living and working in. This might not seem a unique approach in this day and age, but this does set Chetwoods apart from their immediate peers and has proved to be a real point of difference for them in competition – after all, people like the human touch.
They identified that the online channel was a significant part of the commissioning process and realised that with a credible web presence, there were lots of opportunities to talk to their key audiences they were currently missing out on. Our job was to capture the vision of the founder, Laurie Chetwood and the rest of the UK team and articulate this in the online arena. All communications, especially websites, have to embody the company values and vision and we had to make sure the web presence felt as engaging, collaborative, creative and visionary as the Chetwoods working processes. Many architects' websites are portfolio sites that are simply a showcase for their work – not so here. With Chetwoods we were determined to develop an architects' website that would not only be groundbreaking but also give the visitor an insight into what it would be like to work with Chetwoods.
By avoiding the obvious approach, we handed them the differentiation they needed and as a consequence, delivered genuine standout in a crowded online environment where everybody is clamouring for attention.
